This weekend we change our clocks, shifting how we track our days. Join us at NNC to learn about one of the most mysterious aspects of our universe… time. This sphere show will cover everything from how we measure time to the fundamental laws of physics that lead to our understanding of the passage of time. Along the way we will take a tour of deep time from the formation of the earth and beyond into the distant future.

When was the last time you looked up and saw stars in the nighttime sky?  Can you see the stars where you live?  With our 24/7 schedules and continuous city lights, dark skies are hard to come by in some places.  Join NNC to learn more about light pollution, its impact and possible solutions.  You can also find out about Earth Hour and consider participating in turning off lights from 8:30-9:30 pm on March 22nd.

Sun Power  June 7th 1 pm (Scott Park, Easton, PA)

This time of year we get a lot more time with the sun – days are longer and temperatures high as we near the summer solstice (June 20).  To celebrate the power of the sun, we will be observing the sun with a special solar telescope and talking about solar energy! Sunlight can power the world, in fact it already does! Learn more about the bright ideas behind solar power in this free science program.

Lighting up the Night – Fireflies and Bioluminescence June 21st  8:30 pm Hackett Park, Easton, PA  (back up date June 28th)

Join NNC’s Senior Educator, Jeff Mucklin, in this special evening program about fireflies and their glowing abdomens. Discover fascinating facts about bioluminescence and participate in a firefly count for a citizen science project.
