Complementing our arts and science programs, and often overlapping with them, Nurture Nature Center offers several additional types of programming for the community. Like all NNC’s programming, these offerings are developed in response to the needs and interests of the community.

• Our Community Forums: NNC serves an important role in the community as a facilitator and meeting place to gather residents and community leaders to help them learn about, discuss and deliberate on critical and timely environmental and local issues. Central to NNC’s work in this area is the forum model that we developed for community dialogue on environmental topics, which has been nationally disseminated. Using this model, NNC works with local and regional organizations to bring high-quality science information to residents and decision-makers, and to create public opportunities for residents and leaders to consider and reflect on the issues together. • Buy Fresh Buy Local of Greater Lehigh Valley (BFBLGLV): NNC’s Buy Fresh Buy Local program helps connect local farmers and consumers to advance the cause of local foods in our area. Our BFBL work includes extensive outreach through the web and printed materials; a wide range of events, including the popular TASTE; the Double SNAP program, which expands access to fresh, local foods in low-income areas; and partnerships with local food producers, distributors and retailers. • Urban Recycle Garden: NNC features an Urban Recycle Garden in the back of its building, where everyday objects serve as planters for fresh food and flowers. Our Urban Recycle Garden not only enhances this space, but also shows how low-cost growing techniques can be used in small urban areas.
