Local Programs
Nurture Nature Center’s work involves a combination of art, science, education, and community. From murals that educate about local environmental issues, to nature journaling that connects people to their surroundings, to Science on a Sphere® presentations that make global issues personally relevant, NNC’s programs show the benefits of partnering science and art to educate and engage.
- Our science programs include Science on a Sphere®, SOS Explorer®, an Interactive Watershed exhibit and frequent presentations and screenings on environmental issues of interest to the community, all enhanced by wall-sized murals with rich environmental content. Join us for a virtual Science Café! Find out more about our Youth Climate Leadership and Arts Program.
- Our art programs entail a range of community workshops and artists’ presentations, including our popular Perspectives series, open mics, films, kids create and learn classes, and permanent displays as well as rotating exhibits by regional artists.
- Our community programs include facilitated forums and discussions on topics related to our mission, such as flooding, climate change, and food access. We also run the Buy Fresh Buy Local of the Greater Lehigh Valley (BFBL-GLV) program, which works to increase access to local foods and offers ongoing outreach and events on the subject. Additionally, we have an Urban Recycle Garden for our community, and offer workshops there on how to grow food in urban areas. NNC welcomes individual visitors and families, and is also a destination for local school and other organizations, who can obtain information to help their planning on our Field Trips page.
